Curriculum Area: Expressive Arts - Drama

Examination Specification: Pearson Edexcel level 1/ level 2 GCSE (9-1) in Drama (1DR0)

Overview of Course Content

During year 10, this course will develop a student’s understanding of the following areas:

 

  • Applying knowledge and understanding of drama when making, performing and responding to drama.
  • Developing a range of theatrical skills and applying them to create performances.
  • Working collaboratively to generate, develop and communicate ideas.
  • Reflecting on and evaluating their own work and the work of others.
  • Reflect on their experience of a live theatre performance, enabling them to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of performance through analysis and evaluation.

Introduction to GCSE Drama –

 

Exploring and developing acting skills, and student’s knowledge and understanding of different drama styles and theatre practitioners.

Exploring devising drama from stimuli. Applying theatrical skills to realise artistic intentions and to analyse and evaluate their own work.

Exploring and developing a devised drama performance using given stimuli. Applying theatrical skills to realise artistic intentions and to analyse and evaluate their own work through a written portfolio, continuously developed throughout the unit.
