Welcome to The Academy, Selsey’s Exams Information page.

Here you can find links to all the information we provide to candidates and their parents/carers about formal GCSE and Vocational exams, including JCQ regulations and an exam timetable listing each exam session.

Some Key information:

  • Formal exams start at either 9.00am or 1.00pm. Students must be ready to enter the exam venue 15 minutes beforehand, at either 8.45am or 12.45pm. There will be revision sessions before each exam that students can attend. Formal exam dates and start times are set at a national level and cannot be changed.
  • Summer 2021 formal exams: Students now have more time to prepare for their exams next year, as most GCSEs will be held 3 weeks later to help address the disruption caused by the pandemic. One Maths and one English GCSE exam will be held just before the May half-term, giving any year 11 pupils who are affected by COVID-19 the best possible chance of still sitting a paper in each of these core subjects. The main exam season is between Monday 7th June to Friday 2nd July 2021. More details will follow in due course.
  • Mock exam dates and times are set by our school and communicated to students in advance.
  • All formal exams have been taking place in the Junior Hall of the new school building, and the classrooms adjacent to the Junior Hall have been accommodating students with exam support.
  • Due to the current COVID-19 school protocols, the exam venues for the summer 2021 formal exams are to be confirmed.
  • November 2020 mock exams are taking place in the Sports Hall, and the music classrooms in the Expressive Arts building will be used for students entitled to exam support.
  • Students must wear school uniform to all exams (both mock and formal exams).
  • Please check the Student Details listed at the top of your formal exam timetables: these details need to be corrected before certificates are issued or there will be a charge.
  • Students must not communicate with or distract other candidates whilst in the exam venue. There are severe penalties for students suspected of malpractice.
  • Unauthorised materials will not be allowed in the exam venues and students are searched as they enter the rooms. Any sweets, drinks, stationary or other authorised items MUST be in completely see-through containers with all labels removed. Anything unsuitable will be removed.
