Year 10 Curriculum Plan – NCFE Vcert in Health and Fitness

Curriculum Area: Physical Education

Examination Specification: NCFE Level 1/2 Tech Award in Health and Fitness (603/2650/5)

Overview of Course Content

By completing the course, students will learn and understand;

  • The structure and function of the skeletal, Muscular, Cardiorespiratory and Energy Systems of the body and how they apply to health and fitness
  • The effects of health and fitness activities on the body
  • Health and fitness and the components of fitness
  • The principles of training
  • The impact of lifestyle factors on Health and Fitness
  • How to test and develop components of fitness
  • How to apply health and fitness analyses and set goals
  • How to structure and complete a health and fitness training programme and prepare safely

Learning will be assessed by:

Unit 1 – 40% 1 hour 30 minutes written exam covering LO1-L04 to be sat in March 2019

Unit2 – 60% Synoptic project to be completed over 3-4 weeks in school under controlled assessment conditions. This will cover all course content.
